WHAT OUR TENANTS SAY

I've lived in Castle Mill for the majority of my graduate and postgraduate studies. Currently, I live in a one-bed flat with my partner. For me, the best thing about Castle Mill is that the flats are so modern and well-maintained - it is very difficult to find anything affordable of such high quality on the private market in Oxford. Oxford University Accommodation is also the fairest landlord I've had in the UK: the staff are extremely friendly, and I've never had to chase a request. A close second for me is Castle Mill's proximity to nature. We have Port Meadow right on our doorstep, and can walk to the city centre along river and canal paths. It's such a calming contrast to the stresses of academic life! For my partner, it's important that Castle Mill is only a 15-minute walk from the train station, since he commutes to London weekly. Most days he works from home, and benefits from the fast internet connection and really good sound insulation of the flats. Overall, I think Castle Mill is particularly well-suited for couples.

I have been living in Castle Mill for a year now and I find it an incredible privilege to live here. As tenants in this competitive housing market, living in Oxford can be stressful where housing is concerned. Thankfully, the university accommodations office is staffed with the most patient, responsible, and capable staff who answer all our questions. Issues within the flat and the estate are all resolved and dealt with very quickly. In particular, my questions about housing have been answered with so much empathy and detail, and the site team always responding to estate issues in the fastest and most capable manner.

My partner and I have lived in a one-bedroom flat at Castle Mill for the past five years, and it has truly been a wonderful home during our time at the University of Oxford. The location is ideal—just a short walk from the city centre, the train station, and the beautiful Port Meadow, which quickly became one of our favourite places to unwind. Our flat was quiet, well-maintained, and had everything we needed to feel at home. The surrounding green spaces, bicycle storage, and secure entry systems added to the comfort and peace of mind. What made our stay especially memorable, though, was the kindness and responsiveness of the accommodation team. Living at Castle Mill gave us stability, community, and a sense of belonging throughout our studies and research. We’re deeply grateful for the experience and would wholeheartedly recommend it to future students and couples looking for a calm, convenient, and well-supported place to live in Oxford.

I’ve really enjoyed living at Castle Mill - it is a comfortable and convenient place to be based. The site team are always friendly and quick to respond, and the graduate accommodation team have been consistently supportive and efficient in handling queries.

I have really enjoyed living at Castle Mill, it’s great to be surrounded by fellow students in a location so close to the meadow and city centre. Graduate Accommodation made the process of applying, moving in, and extending my stay at CM easy and seamless. They were very accommodating of my timelines and preferences. I really recommend staying in university-managed accommodation to any graduate student.
